Power Furniture Terms

Power Pack

A rechargeable battery designed to power motorized furniture (recliners, lift chairs, power sofas) without a wall outlet connection. Also called a furniture battery or cordless power pack.

Battery Backup

Different from a power pack, a system that provides backup power during electrical outages while normally operating on wall power.

Transformer

A device that converts standard wall power (110V) to the low-voltage power required by furniture motors. Power packs replace the transformer, eliminating the need for wall power.

Motor

The mechanical drive unit that moves reclining furniture components (footrest, backrest, headrest, lumbar support). Furniture may have one or multiple motors.

Motor Lead

The connection point where a power source (transformer or power pack) connects to the furniture’s motor. Different manufacturers use different connector types like 2 Pin DIN, 5 Pin, or the round barrel connector.

Motorized Functions

Refers to the opening or closing of a footrest or raising or lowering of a headrest.

Switch

Buttons or remotes, often integrated with constant drawing features, that control furniture functions.

Constant Drawing Features

Features negatively affecting pack performance as they require power even when not in use (USB ports for charging, LED lit power ports, etc.).

High Consumption Features

Constant drawing features negatively affecting pack performance as they require and consume higher power even when not in use (charging pads, lights, remotes, sound systems, Bluetooth features, etc.).

Interactive Low Power Alert

Audible and visual alert (beeping and flashing LED) that activates when a power pack’s charge drops below a set threshold, indicating the pack needs recharging.

Terminal Shutdown / True Zero

State where a pack is fully depleted below its functional range preventing the pack from use or recharge. This is a built-in safety feature to prevent damage or unsafe charging.

Demo Mode

Temporary mode entered by holding the LED status button. Simulates low-power alerts for demonstration purposes. Reset by connecting the pack to its charger.

mAh (milliamp hours)

Measurement of battery capacity. Higher mAh means more stored energy and longer time between charges. Enouvation packs range from 3,800 mAh (E4) to 10,000 mAh (E10).
