Frequently Asked Questions

01- How does the low power buzzer alert function?

This is an audible reminder your Power Pack needs to be recharged soon. The pack will beep while recharging if it has been depleted below the set interactive low power alert level and will automatically stop beeping when power is restored above this level by recharging. The beeping can sound for up to 45 minutes depending on the depletion level and pack being recharged. If the beeping continues beyond 45 minutes, see Why is a red LED light flashing on my Power Pack?

02- Can I turn off the interactive low power buzzer alert?

No, you cannot. This is a built-in feature to let you know the pack needs to be recharged.

03- Why does my Power Pack beep/buzz every time I open or close my recliner?

This is normal if the power pack has been discharged, and the the low power buzzer alert has been activated. Simply recharge the pack per the product instructions, and the pack will function normally.

If the pack was recently recharged, the power indicator button may have been held putting the pack into “demo mode”. To reset the pack, disconnect from furniture and connect to a powered Enouvation charger. Once a green light is blinking or you have 4 solid green lights, disconnect from charger, and reconnect to furniture. The furniture and pack should operate normally without the audible alert.

04- Why does my furniture stop, beep, then restart after a few seconds?

Specific furniture manufacturers can have motors that have a power requirement higher than the industry standard. This function may occur if the furniture requires power that exceeds the output limits of the Power Pack. Recommended use: E2- Recliners, E4- Sofas/ Loveseats, E6- Sofas/ Loveseats, and Sectionals.

05- Can I use my Power Pack while it is charging?

No, the pack will not operate the furniture while charging. This is an Enouvation best safety practice and ensures you can inspect the pack each time before recharging.

Our Power Packs are programmed with charging priority and do not have an output while charging. Per our product instructions, disconnect Power Pack from furniture, inspect Power Pack and wiring ensuring they are damage free before EVERY CHARGE. ONLY USE THE DESIGNATED ENOUVATION CHARGER INCLUDED WITH YOUR POWER PACK. Power Pack output is disabled when charging. Keep Power Pack and wiring clear of moving parts. DO NOT CRUSH POWER PACK.

06- Why can’t I use my Power Pack as a battery backup?

Enouvation Power Packs have been designed to be the ONLY source of power for your furniture. If a battery is used as a backup, it will continuously have power running through it, and will maintain a 100% charge unless the battery management system is designed otherwise. While this option may sound appealing, a Power Pack is at its most vulnerable state when fully charged. For best safety practices, follow our product instructions: disconnect Power Pack from furniture, inspect Power Pack and wiring ensuring they are damage free before EVERY CHARGE. ONLY USE THE DESIGNATED ENOUVATION CHARGER INCLUDED WITH YOUR POWER PACK. Power Pack output is disabled when charging. Keep Power Pack and wiring clear of moving parts. DO NOT CRUSH POWER PACK.

07- Can I use my Power Pack while my furniture is still plugged into a wall outlet?

No, the power pack is designed to be the sole source of power for your furniture. Two power sources should never be used at the same time. The original furniture transformer should be disconnected and removed. The furniture should never be plugged into wall power if the Power Pack is connected to it. The Power Pack is not a battery backup.

08- My Power Pack is connected to my furniture, why doesn’t it power it?

You might not be connecting directly to the motor lead. If your power furniture has more than one motor, make sure you are using the main lead. Connections between motors look almost identical, but your Power Pack will not function properly unless connected to the main lead. We recommend viewing our Power Pack Installation Guide for a visual reference of these components.

09- Where can I place my Power Pack once connected to my furniture?

Keep the Power Pack and wiring clear of moving parts under your furniture. DO NOT CRUSH THE POWER PACK. DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY IF PACK OR WIRING ARE COMPROMISED IN ANY WAY. CONTINUED USE OF DAMAGED PRODUCT POSES MAJOR SAFETY RISK. Contact us for further instructions if your pack has been damaged.

In most cases, the lead wiring from the motor has sufficient length to connect the Power Pack, allowing it to rest clear of all moving parts. This wiring is usually bound with a zip tie or other means securing the excess wiring to the furniture framing. If this is not the case, we highly recommend using an “e” Extension Cable with all Power Packs as it adds 6.5 feet of flexibility for placement. “e” cables are available for purchase in our online store here.

10- Why can’t I connect my Power Pack to my furniture?

If your Power Pack doesn’t connect to your furniture’s motor out of the box, in most cases we have an adapter available to convert your motor’s fitting to be compatible with the Enouvation fitting. Motor fittings will vary between manufacturers. Please refer to our installation diagram here, for reference. Once the correct adapter is identified, click here to place your order.

11- Why does my Power Pack move, or is suspended in the air when I recline?

The power pack should never move while your furniture is in use. If the pack is suspended or moves during operation of the furniture, immediately discontinue use. An “e” Extension Cable or EXT-FXH adapter will be needed to assist with safe placement. Please refer to our installation diagram, here. Once the correct adapter is identified, click here to place your order.

12- Why does my Power Pack need to be recharged so frequently?

There can be many reasons a pack might need to be recharged more frequently than expected. However, there are two main reasons.

The first: your furniture is being under powered.

As a rule of thumb, the Power Pack # should be greater than or equal to the # of features the furniture offers. (Individual features such as footrest, lumbar, and headrest each count as one).

E2- Designed for recliners with just an adjustable footrest or with both adjustable footrest and headrests (1 or 2 features).

E4- Designed for loveseats/sofas with just adjustable footrests, or with both adjustable footrests and headrests (up to 2 or 4 features). May also be used for recliners with adjustable footrest, lumbar and headrest (up to 3 features).

E6- Designed for loveseats/sofas with adjustable footrest, lumbar and headrest (up to 6 features). May also be used for sectionals; powering individual seats with up to 6 features total (will require use of “e” and or “y” cables). May also be used for longer time between recharging recliners, or loveseats/sofas (4 or less features).

E10- Designed for use on furniture with constant drawing features including but not limited to USB ports, wireless charging ports, wands, handheld controllers, wireless remote controllers etc.

The Second: your furniture has constant drawing features.

USB ports or wireless charging ports EVEN IF NEVER USED, can have a constant draw. Use of USB ports or wireless charging ports to charge any device will DRAMATICALLY REDUCE the motorized function count. Charging devices will cause accelerated power consumption and rapidly increases cell deterioration. This can severely decrease the overall life of the Power Pack.

Wands and handheld controllers typically require constant power. These features will drain a power pack very quickly even when furniture is not being used.

Wireless remote controllers require constant power and will drain a Power Pack very quickly even when furniture is not being used.

If Power Pack needs to be recharged on a weekly basis, please contact us here.

13- What should I do if my pack is used in a room we hardly sit in, or a home that we don’t live in full time?

If the furniture isn’t used at minimum every other week, or is in a 2nd home, it is recommended your pack is disconnected from the furniture. Charge your pack and store in the original box. Upon return or when ready to use the furniture, recharge to 100% per the product instructions before reconnecting to furniture. Furniture with extra features (see constant drawing features) can draw power from the pack daily, even if never used. If you haven’t used the furniture in over two weeks, connect to charger to see the actual power level. If the pack has depleted more than 25%, you have a drawing feature and MUST disconnect the pack from the furniture when not in use or you can potentially drain the pack into terminal shutdown.

14- Why is a red LED light flashing on my Power Pack?

While recharging:

The pack was depleted below the interactive low power alert level. Depending on the pack model, the flashing red light may also be accompanied by an audible beep. The red light and beeping will turn off during recharging when the power is restored above the interactive low power alert level.

or

The pack has been severely discharged below the hard shutdown level and the pack has entered terminal shutdown. The pack will no longer recharge once in this state. This is a safety feature preventing a severely depleted pack from recharging. Contact us for assistance with properly recycling the Power Pack.

While in use:

The pack has entered interactive low power level and will need to be recharged.

If a pack was just recharged, and the red light flashes with the buzzer sounding, more than likely the pack has been put in demo mode. The LED light indicator button does not need to be pressed after recharging. If the LED light indicator is pressed and held for 3-5 seconds the pack will enter demo mode. To clear demo mode, disconnect pack from furniture, and connect to the charger. Once a green light begins to blink, the pack has been reset and demo mode will be turned off.

15- Why is my Power Pack (and or) charger getting warm while charging?

The charger may get warm while charging but should not be “hot”. Depending on the age of the outlet and when it was wired may influence the charger’s operating temperature. Wiring regulations have dramatically changed over the years. Modern day electrical wiring regulates consistent power to and through outlets verses years past. We always recommend charging via a GFI outlet or use a surge strip to help regulate current.

16- Why will my Power Pack not charge right out of the box?

This is usually the result of product not properly maintained at the retail store. Each pack is marked with a unique ID #. This ID# is used for quality control as well as notating when the Power Pack was manufactured. Enouvation maintains a record of when a pack was shipped, and to which retailer. Power Packs are not shipped with a full charge for best safety practices. As such, each pack should receive its first charge out of the box per the below guidelines:

E2- within 6 months
E4- within 9 months
E6- within 12 months
E10- within 12 months

17- What does the term True Zero mean?

True Zero is a term we use when a pack has been discharged below the functional range required to power the furniture’s motorized functions, and the power reserve has been completely depleted. This is a safety feature designed to permanently turn off and prevent recharging to avoid compromising a pack. While this isn’t common; once a pack reaches True Zero it will no longer recharge. This does not mean the pack is completely absent of all power, but it simply has been depleted outside of the tested safe charging parameters. The pack is not functional for its intended purpose and may display inaccurate LED light display readings. If you have attempted to recharge a pack for up to 24 hours using a confirmed powered outlet and the pack will not power the furniture, it is likely the pack has been permanently turned off. Contact us for assistance with properly recycling the power pack.

18- Why is my Power Pack no longer charging?

There are several factors why a pack might not be recharging.

Power Packs need to be recharged every 6 months if unused, to maintain their integrity.

If you have recharged in the last 6 months, was the pack connected to furniture that has a USB port, LED light, Lit wand, handheld controller, lit cup holder, etc.? Is the furniture used on a regular basis (at least 2-3 times a week)? Did the interactive low power alert sound when you tried to operate the furniture?

If yes, the pack needed to be recharged. If you waited over 2 weeks to do so, the pack could have consumed the power reserve and pack entered terminal shutdown.

If not- A system that has a constant draw can drain a pack down into the hard shutdown mode. If you waited over 2 weeks to recharge, the pack may have consumed the power reserve dropping it below its functional range resulting in terminal shutdown.

19- Why does nothing happen when I connect my Power Pack to the charger?

The Enouvation charger provided with your Power Pack is specifically designed to recharge Enouvation Power Packs. Use of a generic charger can be unsafe and cause damage to the Enouvation Power Pack rendering it useless.

If you are using the provided Enouvation charger, you will want to try other outlets in your home. Some outlets can stop working over the years and need to be replaced. We suggest using a GFI outlet or a surge strip with a power indication light to confirm there is power coming from the outlet.

20- My pack shows 4 green lights, why won’t it power my furniture?

If this is the first time the pack is being connected to the furniture, confirm it’s being connected to the correct furniture connection. Also, see above “Why is my Power Pack no longer charging?”.

If a pack has been discharged, the power reserve may have been consumed dropping the pack below its functional range resulting in terminal shutdown. While this isn’t common; once the pack reaches terminal shutdown the pack will no longer recharge. A constant draw from the furniture may cause the Power Pack LED lights to malfunction and yield inaccurate display readings. In most cases, a pack will show a red light only, but depending on the situation you can experience a false reading as explained above. If you have attempted to recharge a pack for up to 24 hours using a confirmed powered outlet and the pack will not power the furniture, it is likely the pack has entered terminal shutdown. The pack will no longer recharge once in this state. This is a safety feature preventing a severely depleted pack from recharging. Contact us for assistance with properly recycling the Power Pack.

21- The salesperson told me I would get months between recharges, why is my pack underperforming?

Enouvation Power Packs have been tested to perform to the published levels of motorized functions. Remember, our packs are designed to operate the motors only, not the additional features. Furniture without constant drawing features will get the full Power Pack capacity to open and close the furniture. If the salesperson understands your furniture, and can confirm it’s absent of constant drawing features, this statement would be true. Enouvation’s goal is to provide the user months between recharges. Enouvation offers extensive training to our retail partners, and pride ourselves on the level of education we provide. Unfortunately, due to factors beyond anyone’s control, retail outlets are experiencing a higher than typical sales associate turnover.

If you find the need to recharge frequently or find the time between charges gets shorter over time, your furniture more than likely has constant drawing features. Our customer service team is here to assist you. In most cases we have a solution or can assist with a custom recharging regimen.

22- Why didn’t our salesperson inform us about constant drawing features?

We understand your frustration. In most cases the furniture manufacturer didn’t even know the USB ports they offer draw power, even if NEVER USED. Enouvation Power Packs take the blame for features within the furniture, and no one ever explained these features in detail to you. With so many options in the marketplace, and non-standardized components from various manufacturers, it’s extremely challenging to know what furniture someone owns and the available options for Power Pack management. We work extremely hard to educate both consumers and retailers about their furniture and provide the best guidance regarding proper Power Pack management.

23- What does Enouvation do to make sure my Power Pack is of the highest quality?

Enouvation Power Packs go through extensive testing for quality and safety prior to receiving their unique serial ID #. Additionally, every pack we send out is sealed after testing and is tamper evident as a result. All packs shipped from Enouvation are new. Used packs are never resold, nor do we offer any refurbishment programs.

We take great pride in the quality product we deliver and our extremely high customer satisfaction rating when our products are used with furniture absent of constant drawing features. Like any battery, our Power Packs have a natural self-consumption rate. Depending on the composition, this rate will vary greatly. An Enouvation Power Pack that is fully charged and properly stored will retain power for more than 6 months. We recommend, per our instructions, to recharge the pack every 6 months if not connected to furniture. Remember the Power Pack is designed to operate the motors only and not to power additional features.

24- Why is my Power Pack is not holding or taking a charge?

Most cases regarding a pack not working directly relates to the furniture the Power Pack was connected to. Enouvation offers free system analyses to thoroughly assess each users’ specific system. The goal: create a positive consumer experience and ensure you have the right power pack for your needs. We understand it’s very hard to believe a USB port on furniture you never use can ruin a Power Pack, but it’s true. Furniture manufacturers promote features that sound amazing during the sales pitch but are often unaware these features have constant draws. Enouvation has invested time and resources to understand these features, and as such can offer a free system analysis if you just contact us prior to your purchase. Remember, the Power Pack is designed to operate the motors only. It was not meant to power additional features. Charging a device via a USB port with a Power Pack connected is like opening a recliner 200-300 times every hour a device is charging.

25- Why is my Entelligent Power Pack not showing it is fully charged (4 solid LEDs)?

When your Enouvation Power Pack is finished charging, all 4 LEDs will remain solid. If you have just purchased a new Entelligent series Power Pack, you may notice the 4th light will not remain solid after the initial charge. This is not unusual for the first 3-4 full charge/discharge cycles. The Entelligent series uses proprietary technology to calculate its current state of charge and with normal use will calibrate to your seating based on the specific power needs it has. After this calibration period completes, you will see all 4 LEDs solid when the pack is fully charged. An E10 is considered at full charge and ready for its initial use at approximately 28.5v-29v (visible in the Entelligent App).
